Giant Crab (Ice Age)

This is an enormous oceanic crab species - far larger than a woolly mammoth - which lived during the Pleistocenic ice ages. It has a metallic-blue color, long eyestalks, and its mouth is extremely large compared to its body.

History

A member of this species once climbed on an ice float and attacked a group of land animals who were stranded on it. When Sid and the crab noticed the giant wave coming, Sid clung to its leg. When the wave passed Sid tried to thank the crab, but was horrified to see all but its leg had been washed away. Its status is unknown but it could have survived because it lives in the ocean and arthropods regenerate lost limbs.
