Ahuizotl

As seen in The Secret Saturdays

The Ahuizotl is an amphibious, black dog-like creature from Mexico, which figures in Aztec mythology.

Biology[]

It's a medium-sized aquatic mammal, described as similar to a dog, but also possessing features of a monkey or a raccoon. It's covered in waterproof fur and its hide is protected by numerous spikes or quills. Most notably, the tip of its tail is equipped with a functional hand which it uses to grasp prey and drag them to the bottom of the lakes and rivers in which it dwells.

It's said to emit a crying sound similar to that of a child, in order to attract people so it can prey on them. After it kills its prey, it's said that the Ahuizotl will only feed on the eyes, nails and teeth, and leave the rest of the body intact.

The Secret Saturdays[]

They are 7-foot tall primates with black skin, black hair, orange eyes and a 15-foot long tail. It appears to have a mustache. Its tail has a hand on the end, its ears are pointed and it's blind. It sees by using magic abilities to steal people's eyes. When it does this, the hand on its tail glows orange. Its stolen vision isn't permanent: after a while it will go blind again. Its call sounds like a baby crying.

Notes[]

  • In The Secret Saturdays, after it steals someone's eyes, that person has skin instead of empty eye sockets.
